Hurricane season spans June to November; for the best weather and climate, it's recommended to visit Belize during the winter months.

Ambergris Caye

Ambergris Caye is the can't-miss hotspot here. The island, just off the coast, offers nothing but sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean, and the Belize Barrier Reef, one of the world's most diverse ecosystems and second largest coral reef on earth. Take a dive into the famous Great Blue Hole, or head inland, where you'll find Xunantunich and Actun Tunichil Muknal (the two most-visited Mayan sites in Belize). Crooked Tree Wildlife Sanctuary is another recommended stop; it’s home to the Jabiru stork, their most popular resident.

Luxury Resorts

Belize is known for its luxurious and upscale boutique hotels. We recommend Matachica Resort & Spa and Victoria’s House Resort & Spa. Both are just minutes from the San Pedro airport on Ambergris Caye and offer award-winning spas and a wide range of watersports and diving trips. Portofino Beach Resort (pictured below) is another fantastic option. In addition to diving, they also offer fishing and archaeological excursions.
